This blog is to keep readers updated on the on-going drama of Carrie’s life. Carrie, my daughter, is the subject of my Amazon bestselling title, Autism By Hand. So many people have written wanting to know more about Carrie and the family in general, so this blog is to provide more up-to-date and insightful information that just didn’t fit between the covers of Autism By Hand. I followed up that first book with another title, Knowing Autism, that gives insight into autism for people who simply know someone on the spectrum.
I also want to admit that this blog was created because of some negativity from people who’ve read my book. And when I say negativity, I actually mean vile, hate-filled ichor-spew from people who felt like Child Welfare should take my children from me for being so mean. The fact that thousands of people have read my book and keep recommending it to their friends means there are plenty of people who are tired of hearing about how great autism is. Instead, they want to know practical daily advice on how to help their children become a part of the real world. My book is for those people.
Anyone who wants to have a genuine internet conversation about autism or any of the things they read on here is welcome to email me at lorcadamon@yahoo.com.
Just wanted to say… your book has been instrumental in helping me to ‘come to terms’ with my toddler’s Autism and you have provided me with some great ideas for when he’s older. It is refreshing to read someone who isn’t focusing on the devastation they felt or those irritating softly softly books which don’t want to be honest with you. I felt your honesty and humour (I’m British, and the dry, wry wit appealed to me) was wonderful, and cannot see why you received such a backlash. I have, and will continue to recommend your book. Thank you!
I just found your blog today. I want to say thank you for sharing. My son is a few years behind your daughter, and its comforting for me to read about how you and your family handle things. God bless you.
Is there a typo in your email? it says lorcdamon at yahoo
Oops! Yes, that’s a mistake. I’ll fix it, but it should be LORCA. Thanks!!!
